Between 2015 and 2019, AirJaldi worked closely with Facebook’s Express WiFi initiative to develop a public WiFi hotspot solution for rural areas
AirJaldi began using public WiFi hotspots in rural areas in 2014. We were looking for ways to provide poeple, mostly in underserved and unserved rural areas with cheap and easy access to broadband services. In 2015, we became the first global partners of Facebook’s Express WiFi (XWF) initiative, which shared similar aimes. Together we developed a technical and economic delivery model and served over 300,000 users in hundereds of locations in northern and easternd India. AirJaldi still operates hotspot services in select rural areas in Mahrashtra and Madhya Pradesh, under our own brand – JaldiFi.
